Nearly 300 persons, 90 of them on site, attended the OAI/Syvicol roundtable "Municipalities and affordable housing" on 21st of April 2021 at Luxexpo The Box.
The round table was organised by the OAI in collaboration with Syvicol in the framework of the ARCHITECT@WORK Summit. It was preceded by the presentation of 3 exemplary achievements in affordable housing. The projects "Social and Intergenerational Housing of the City of Luxembourg", "Renovation of the former Nelson Farm of the Fonds du Logement" and "Solar Community Schwebach: realisation of a communal housing estate by a cooperative" were presented by the architects Arlette SCHNEIDERS, Corinne STEPHANY and Albert GOEDERT.
The round table was introduced by two presentations: "Wohnraum für alle / Leistbares Wohnen / Gemeinwohlorientierte Raumordnung Vorarlberg und die Initiative Vau / Hoch / Drei" by the Austrian speaker Josef MATHIS and "Le verrou du foncier" by Antoine PACCOUD, geographer and co-ordinator of the Housing Observatory (LISER).
During the round table, moderated by the Director of the OAI, Pierre HURT, a high-level panel debated on the current hot topic: affordable housing. The Ministers of Interior Taina BOFFERDING and of Housing Henri KOX, the President of Syvicol Emile EICHER, the Alderman of the City of Luxembourg Maurice BAUER, the President of the Real Estate Chamber Jean-Paul SCHEUREN and the Secretary General of the OAI Sala MAKUMBUNDU exchanged their points of view on various approaches and new instruments to remedy the dramatic imbalance of the housing market.
At the end of the round table, Lex FABER, urban planner, summarised the most important key messages.
